I previously wrote about my obsession with Austrian writer Thomas Bernhard for More Intelligent Life, and returned there to write-up a review of his play Ritter, Dene, Voss which is playing at LaMaMa here in New York. The play is a fictional account of the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein's return to his family home after a mental breakdown. A wacky psychosexual comedy, this play is Bernhardian to the max. Which, I hope you will discover (by reading his work) is a very, very good thing.
